- Two years abstinence from ski jumping
- Two years in which I wasn’t personally present at a World Cup
- Two years in which I had to manage and coordinate the fortunes from the company headquarters
You can imagine how happy I was about my “World Cup Comeback” this weekend in Zakopane! Together with my team we were responsible for the track maintenance during the World Cup and I had more fun than ever before! Nothing gives me more energy as creating something great together with my employees and getting our "old" new team to work together perfectly again.
The organizers in Zakopane are known for being well organized, and that's how it also was this time. How emotional I got with the great atmosphere with 10,000 spectators in the stadium of Zakopane! It is very nice to see that the spectators are now allowed to participate again on site - although with strict restrictions and a hygiene concept. The weather god also played his part and gave us ideal conditions and low temperatures for a ski jumping festival!
I used the weekend mainly for networking and to exchange of ideas with partners and friends from the ski jumping family. For me it is extremely important to be in constant contact with the international ski federation and the coaches from different countries. Only if you know also the opinions of experts and people who work with it every day can you continue to develop your products in the best possible way!
The weekend was also a "warming up" for our next big event, the Ski Flying World Championships in Vikersund. The work will start in the coming days and will keep us busy until the event is held in mid-March. With so much positive energy that we took with us from Zakopane, it can't be anything but a complete success! :-)
Yours, Peter Riedel
