Probably the largest project in the history of Peter Riedel GmbH has been completed. In a record construction time of only 70 days and with only six employees, we assembled two complete ski jump constructions in Granasen/Trondheim. Everything that was built on the concrete foundation comes from us, the Peter Riedel GmbH, a mid-sized company from Raschau in the Ore Mountains.
The heart of the constriction is our Mastertrack, which has been installed and tested hundreds of times worldwide. The ice track is supplemented by a new ice milling machine with an innovative "forerunner", a 1.5t winch, a cover winder, a completely new cooling technology including piping, a gate and starting bar system, new watering technology and the complete safety area next to the inrun track.
In addition to the latest technology that we have packed into the system, we are particularly proud of our construction management and our logistics. Such a project could never be implemented in 70 days if every little thing, no matter how small it is, doesn’t fit precisely and smoothly. 44 tons of steel and equipment, which was moved almost 2000 kilometers with seven trucks. Two 100-ton cranes were used for the assembly directly at the jumping venue. The challenge was not the weight of the components, but the large overhang that was required at the installation locations. As unspectacular as the end product looks, the necessary detailed planning was just as complex and challenging.
Both ski jumping hills were already put into operation on February 1st, since then the daily training on the two facilities has been in full swing. The first athlete to jump the new hill was no one other than Johann Andre Forfang. And if the director of the Olympic base in Trondheim, Frode Moen, is right, not only the Norwegian top stars, but the entire world elite will meet in Granasen before the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2025 and probably many years later for training. It would definitely be a great honor for us.
As the final building block of our largest project so far, we can now present you a video of the construction of the ski jump facilities
We wish you lots of fun watching
