For almost every winter sports fan, Kitzbühel is more than just a small town in the Tyrolean Alps. Made famous by the legendary Hahnenkamm race, it is now an integral part of the Alpine Ski World Cup calendar. Where the high society admires the ski heroes as they bravely race down the „Streif", my father was already in action there more than 60 years ago as a ski racer for the former GDR.
Now, exactly 63 years later, this circle closes. But this time it has little to do with the Alpine ski circus; rather, we are building a bridge to the Nordic part. Because what many people don't know: there is also a ski jumping center in Kitzbühel. With a total of four hills with K-points from 10 to 45, it is an important training center for the offspring in Tyrol.
And right there, on the Schattberg, next to the Hahnenkamm and thus just a stone's throw away from the famous "Streif", we now have the honor of equipping the largest hill with our club track. The 85-meter-long, very flat inrun is getting a makeover. We will level out various uneven areas in the substructure and make minor changes to the profile. The goal is to provide a great jumping hill for year-round use - and as always, we will give our best! We are looking forward to this "historic" project!
